Mercedes-AMG has officially unveiled the 2027 GLE 63 S and GLS 63. Both models are powered by the M177 EVO 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine, featuring a flat-plane crankshaft, an integrated starter-generator, and a 48-volt mild-hybrid system. The engine delivers a maximum output of 603 horsepower and peak torque of 850 N·m, available consistently between 2,500 and 4,500 rpm. The mild-hybrid system provides an additional 23 horsepower and 205 N·m of supplementary torque. Power is sent to all four wheels via the latest-generation AMG Speedshift TCT 9-speed automatic transmission and the fully variable torque-splitting AMG 4MATIC+ all-wheel-drive system. The GLE 63 S accelerates from 0 to 96 km/h in 3.6 seconds, while the GLS 63 achieves the same in 3.9 seconds. Both vehicles have an electronically limited top speed of 280 km/h. Both SUVs ride on the Ride Control+ air suspension system with adaptive damping and offer multiple driving modes. In Off-Road mode, the ride height increases by 5.6 cm, while Sport and Comfort modes lower it by 1 cm. The setup also integrates AMG Active Body Control technology paired with an electronically controlled locking rear differential to enhance handling stability. Exterior updates include a fully blacked-out front grille and redesigned air intakes for the GLE, while the GLS retains its chrome-finished grille. Both models feature exclusive wheel designs—up to 22 inches for the GLE and up to 23 inches for the GLS—and come standard with quad exhaust tips. Inside, the new models are equipped with a redesigned AMG Performance steering wheel, available in three finishes: leather, microfiber, or a dual-material combination. Carbon fiber trim and a range of customizable seat upholstery options are also offered. Pricing details have not yet been announced.
