In the Android version of the Tesla app (v4.58.0), pushed on June 16, 2024, code related to real-time charging notifications—similar to that found in the iOS version—has been discovered. A teardown reveals multiple embedded strings within this app version, including “android_native_charging_notif_channel_desc,” “android_native_charging_notif_charge_level_distance,” “android_native_charging_notif_fee_estimated,” and “android_native_charging_notif_trip_ready_to_continue_trip,” all of which are linked to Android 16’s Live Updates feature. Once enabled, this functionality will allow users to view key information—such as current state of charge, estimated range, and Supercharger cost estimates—directly on the lock screen or status bar without needing to pull down the notification shade or open the app. Tesla rolled out Live Activities for iOS in May 2025 to provide real-time tracking of Supercharging sessions and Robotaxi order statuses. While the relevant code is now fully in place on Android, it remains inactive. Tesla typically pre-embeds client-side feature code and activates it later once server-side support is ready or via a subsequent app update.
