Zhejiang Geely Automobile Manufacturing Co., Ltd. has filed a recall plan with China's State Administration for Market Regulation. Starting June 18, 2026, the company will recall 2,501 units of domestically produced EX30 vehicles manufactured between April 12, 2024, and December 27, 2024. In the affected vehicles, a production deviation may cause lithium dendrite growth within the battery cells, potentially leading to an internal short circuit. The instrument cluster may display a warning indicating high-voltage battery overheating, and in some cases, the high-voltage battery could emit smoke. In extreme scenarios, there is a risk of thermal runaway. Volvo Car-authorized dealers will carry out the recall campaign, inspecting the affected vehicles and replacing any battery modules with potential defects. Until the recall remedy is completed, owners are advised to limit their vehicle’s state of charge to no more than 70% to mitigate risks.
