Changan Automobile's overseas new energy vehicle (NEV) plant in Rayong, Thailand, recently rolled out its 20,000th vehicle. Officially launched in May 2025, the facility is Changan’s first overseas NEV production base and achieved full-capacity operation in just 13 months—from initial ramp-up to full-scale production. The plant’s Phase I annual capacity stands at 100,000 units, with a long-term target of 200,000 units, and has already been upgraded to serve as Changan’s Southeast Asia manufacturing headquarters. The Deepal S05, the plant’s first model to enter production, quickly topped Thailand’s monthly sales chart for all-electric SUVs shortly after its local launch. Meanwhile, the Qiyuan Q05 targets the mass-market family segment and has become a key sales driver. Thanks to its localized manufacturing strategy, Changan has entered the top five NEV brands by sales volume in Thailand. According to its roadmap, Changan plans to introduce seven new NEV models into the Thai market between 2026 and 2028, aiming to raise its local parts localization rate to 70% by 2027 and rank among Thailand’s top three pure electric vehicle brands by 2030.
