XPeng has unveiled its new model, the MONA L03, built on the platform of the previously successful MONA M03. Featuring an SUV body style, the L03 marks the first time the MONA series offers a range-extended electric version. The L03 is available in both battery-electric and range-extended variants. The BEV version comes with either a 56 kWh or 69 kWh battery pack, delivering a CLTC-rated range of 550 km to 650 km. The range-extended variant pairs a 1.5L range extender with a 183 kW electric motor, achieving a WLTC pure-electric range of up to 257 km. The L03 inherits the intelligent features of the M03, offering standard urban-assist driving capabilities across all trims and supporting end-to-end smart parking—from departure spot to parking space. Stylistically, the vehicle adopts a youthful design language, highlighted by dopamine-inspired color schemes, T-shaped daytime running lights, a fastback silhouette, a subtle ducktail spoiler, and multiple wheel designs. Priced between RMB 150,000 and RMB 200,000, the L03 targets China’s mainstream SUV market. Compared to the M03, which carved out a niche in the sub-RMB 100,000 pure-electric sedan segment, the L03 enters the more fiercely competitive RMB 150,000 SUV segment, where key rivals include the BYD Song PLUS DM-i, Leapmotor C10/C11, Deepal S07, and Geely Galaxy models. Some analysts believe the L03 could replicate the M03’s breakout success, leveraging XPeng’s strengths in intelligent technology, the proven product appeal of the M03, and its coverage of family users’ demand for range-extended powertrains. Others caution that its coupe-SUV styling may compromise rear headroom and cargo practicality, making it difficult to stand out in a crowded market. Moreover, if the L03 fails to maintain the M03’s high value-for-money pricing strategy, its sales performance could be constrained. Additionally, XPeng plans to simultaneously advance the L03’s overseas rollout, accelerating its global expansion by capitalizing on the brand recognition already established by the M03 in markets such as the Middle East, Africa, and Europe.
