On June 24, SAIC Volkswagen announced that cumulative deliveries of its first extended-range hybrid flagship SUV, the ID. EAR9X, have surpassed 10,000 units. Actress Xin Zhilei, the brand ambassador for Volkswagen’s refreshed lineup, became the 10,000th owner of this model. Officially launched on April 25, the ID. EAR9X starts at RMB 299,800 and is positioned as a large SUV, with dimensions of 5,207 mm (length) × 1,997 mm (width) × 1,810 mm (height) and a wheelbase of 3,070 mm. In terms of design, the ID. EAR9X features an exclusive new-energy vehicle design language, with a closed-off front fascia, full-width LED light bar, and an illuminated front logo. The interior is equipped with a 15.6-inch ultra-high-definition dual-screen setup spanning the center console and passenger side, along with a foldable 21.4-inch ceiling-mounted rear entertainment screen. Ambient lighting throughout the cabin extends to a total length of 12.8 meters, and the vehicle debuts SmartSurface Magic Screen technology, enabling a seamlessly hidden display design. For intelligent driving capabilities, the ID. EAR9X is fitted with a roof-mounted LiDAR, fender-mounted perception sensors, and a blue indicator light at the rear signaling autonomous driving status. It runs the Xingyun Intelligent Driving Assistance System, co-developed by SAIC Volkswagen and Momenta, and is the first model to feature Momenta’s R7 reinforcement learning world model. The chassis employs a double-wishbone front suspension and five-link rear suspension, extensively using aluminum components. It also features a dual-chamber air suspension system and rear-wheel steering. Powering the ID. EAR9X is an EA211 engine serving as the range extender, delivering a maximum output of 105 kW. All variants come standard with all-wheel drive, offering a combined system peak power of either 370 kW or 380 kW and a maximum torque of 660 N·m. In terms of battery options, the base model is equipped with a 51.1 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery, providing a CLTC-rated pure electric range of 347 km. Mid- and high-end trims feature a 65.2 kWh ternary lithium battery from CATL, achieving a CLTC pure electric range of 406 km and a combined range of up to 1,260 km when fully fueled and charged.
