On June 24, automotive supplier Tenneco announced the completion of an automated production line for Monroe® full-active dampers at its Suzhou, China facility. The new line will manufacture Monroe® FAS (Full-Active Suspension) dampers, developed primarily by Tenneco’s China team and integrating global technical resources, with priority given to serving the Chinese market. The FAS damper features millisecond-level response capability, delivering active lift and downforce to enable independent wheel-end decoupling, effectively suppressing body roll and pitch while absorbing road vibrations. The new production line is characterized by automation, flexibility, and intelligence, with real-time traceability of critical manufacturing data to ensure consistent product quality. Mass production on this line is expected to commence in the fourth quarter of this year. Tenneco has already secured定点 (定点 here means "nomination" or "award") from two customers and is actively advancing collaborations with several others. As China’s new energy vehicle sector continues evolving toward higher performance and greater intelligence, active suspension systems are increasingly becoming a key feature in premium vehicle models. Tenneco has established a comprehensive R&D footprint in China, comprising a Beijing Technology Center and two major manufacturing bases in Changzhou and Suzhou, enabling it to offer a full portfolio of solutions—from passive and semi-active to full-active dampers.
