CATL's Choco Swap battery-swapping service has launched two swap stations in Hong Kong and completed the delivery of its first batch of battery-swappable taxis, marking the entry of its battery-swapping model into substantive operations in the city. According to plans, approximately 36 swap stations will be built across Hong Kong by the end of 2030, covering major transportation hubs in all districts to serve high-frequency commercial vehicles and gradually establish a city-wide green mobility battery-swapping network. As of May 2026, Choco Swap has built 1,650 swap stations nationwide, spanning 127 cities. By the end of 2026, the total number of swap stations is expected to exceed 3,000, covering nearly 190 cities. Currently, key cities such as Chongqing, Guangzhou, and Beijing each have more than 50 swap stations, with service coverage extending as far west as Lhasa and as far north as Hulunbuir.
