General Motors announced a $150 million investment in its Spring Hill Assembly Plant in Tennessee to support production of a future Cadillac internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicle. The brand plans to launch an all-new XT5 in the second half of 2027, and development of the next-generation CT5 is also underway. Full details of the new XT5 have not yet been disclosed. Currently, the U.S.-market XT5 still features analog gauges and an 8-inch CUE infotainment system. In contrast, the China-market XT5—launched two years ago—is equipped with a 33-inch curved display, semi-aniline leather seats, 126-color ambient lighting, a panoramic sunroof, a 15-speaker AKG audio system, crystal-finish rotary knobs with 3D emblems, wood and aluminum trim accents, and a 9.3-inch streaming rearview mirror. The Chinese-spec XT5 is powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine producing 174 kW (233 hp) and 350 N·m (258 lb-ft) of torque, paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission. It achieves a 0–100 km/h acceleration time of as fast as 8 seconds and a top speed of 210 km/h. Powertrain details for the U.S.-spec XT5 have not yet been confirmed. Additionally, General Motors will invest $125 million in its Spring Hill Global Propulsion Systems facility to refurbish equipment and extend the lifecycle of its 2.7-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine program. This engine currently powers pickup trucks including the Chevrolet Colorado, GMC Canyon, Chevrolet Silverado, and GMC Sierra.
