The Porsche 911 GT4 R has made its global debut. This marks Porsche’s first foray into the GT4 customer racing category with the 911 lineup, and the car is scheduled to compete in major international racing series starting from the 2027 season. Developed from the current 911 Cup race car—which itself is derived from the road-going 992.2-generation 911 GT3—the new model delivers a comprehensive performance upgrade over previous GT4 models based on the 718 Cayman. Power comes from a 4.0-liter flat-six engine sourced from the 911 GT3. In race trim, it produces a maximum output of 382 kW (520 PS) and peak torque of 470 N·m. However, in compliance with GT4 class Balance of Performance regulations, the car leaves the factory fitted with a 53.7 mm air restrictor, limiting power to approximately 316 kW (430 PS). Power is sent to the rear wheels via a six-speed sequential dog-ring gearbox, equipped with steering-wheel-mounted paddle shifters and a four-plate racing clutch. Aerodynamically, the rear wing features 11 manually adjustable angle settings. The chassis, specifically developed for GT4 competition, includes two-way adjustable dampers and three spring-rate options. Numerous body components—including doors, engine cover, aerodynamic elements, and select cockpit interior parts—are constructed from natural fiber composites combined with epoxy resin. Inside, the cockpit features a 10.3-inch full-color display integrated with a data logger and high-precision GPS system, enabling detailed post-race analysis and vehicle setup optimization.
