BMW has announced that the long-wheelbase version of the all-new BMW iX3 will launch pre-sales at the Chengdu International Auto Show, to be held from August 21 to 30, 2026, with deliveries scheduled to begin in the fourth quarter of the same year. Developed specifically for the Chinese market, this model is built on BMW’s Neue Klasse all-electric platform and marks the platform’s first long-wheelbase electric Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV). The new model features a wheelbase of 3,005 mm—108 mm longer than the standard version—with the entire increase dedicated to enhancing rear knee room. Its overall dimensions measure 4,885 mm (length) × 1,895 mm (width) × 1,635 mm (height), giving it a longer wheelbase than the standard X5. The rear seatbacks can recline up to 121 degrees and feature thicker, extended cushions for added comfort. When folded down, the rear seats expand the luggage compartment capacity to 1,900 liters—150 liters more than the standard iX3. The vehicle will be developed and produced by BMW Brilliance Automotive at its joint-venture plant in Shenyang. Powering the car is BMW’s sixth-generation high-voltage battery, equipped with 108.7 kWh large cylindrical cells and BMW’s proprietary “Intelligent Energy Management System,” which intelligently allocates electrical energy based on road conditions, elevation, and driving scenarios. A nationwide roadshow will kick off on July 4–5, 2026, at Taikoo Li in Chengdu’s Chunxi Road, followed by stops in cities including Nanjing, Qingdao, and Beijing.
