At the 2026 Busan International Mobility Show, BYD unveiled its hybrid model, the Sealion 06 DM-i, for the first time and announced its official launch in the Korean market as BYD’s first hybrid vehicle offering in the country. This move marks BYD's formal entry into South Korea’s hybrid electric vehicle market. Since launching the world’s first mass-produced plug-in hybrid vehicle in 2008, BYD has sold over 8 million new energy vehicles globally, with its DM-i technology accumulating more than 30 billion kilometers of total driving distance worldwide. With the introduction of the Sealion 06 DM-i, BYD will now offer both battery electric vehicles and hybrid models in Korea. Liu Xueliang, Vice President of BYD Group and General Manager of the Asia-Pacific Automotive Sales Division, stated that on the occasion of BYD Korea’s 10th anniversary, the company will further expand the local new energy mobility ecosystem through a synergistic development strategy encompassing both passenger and commercial vehicles.
