In June 2024, the fifth-generation Geely Emgrand i-HEV Smart Hybrid made its global debut in Mount Tai, with a limited-time starting price of RMB 78,900. Equipped with the i-HEV Smart Hybrid system, the model achieved a certified Guinness World Record for its combined fuel consumption of just 2.22 L/100 km. According to data from the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA), HEV (Hybrid Electric Vehicle) passenger cars were the only powertrain type in China to achieve positive growth in Q1 2026. Domestic HEV sales are projected to exceed 2 million units for the full year, while the global HEV fleet has already surpassed 5 million units. By introducing hybrid technology into the sub-RMB 80,000 segment, the Emgrand i-HEV is accelerating HEV adoption in the entry-level family sedan market. The vehicle’s hybrid system is supplied by Haos Power. Its proprietary “Wind Dragon Tornado” combustion system optimizes air-fuel mixture formation and combustion control logic across all operating conditions specifically for hybrid applications, thereby enhancing energy conversion efficiency. Haos Power offers a comprehensive portfolio of core hybrid components—including hybrid engines, DHT transmissions, and range extenders—supporting multiple energy configurations and technological pathways, and providing automakers with hybrid solutions and global expansion capabilities.
