On June 30, 2024, Toyota Boshoku (China) Co., Ltd. and Huaqin Technology Co., Ltd. officially inaugurated their joint venture, Toyota Boshoku Huaqin (Shanghai) Automotive Electronics Co., Ltd., in Shanghai. The two partners hold equity stakes of 51% and 49%, respectively. The company focuses on the research, development, and manufacturing of intelligent cockpit control products and related software. Its product portfolio includes interior ambient lighting, electronic control units (ECUs), zone control units (ZCUs), displays, and cockpit control terminals. Mass production projects are already underway, with business development progressing in phases: initially concentrating on intelligent cockpit electronics development and customer proposals, followed by platform-based development of ECUs and ambient lighting, and gradually expanding to customized development of displays, control terminals, and body domain controllers. Toyota Boshoku brings decades of technical expertise in automotive seating and interior systems, while Huaqin Technology offers strong capabilities in automotive electronics domain controller development, in-house automotive software development, and large-scale smart manufacturing. The joint venture aims to combine Toyota Boshoku’s strengths in mobility space experience with Huaqin’s rapid iteration capabilities in electronics and software to create a “next-generation intelligent mobility space.” Both parties plan to leverage China as their strategic base and, through Toyota Boshoku’s global network, promote intelligent cockpit products developed and validated in China to international markets, establishing a “China-developed, globally delivered” business model.
