On July 2, 2024, BYD officially launched the Seagull 08, the flagship sedan under its Ocean Network, with an official price range of RMB 196,900 to RMB 239,900. The vehicle is available in both plug-in hybrid (PHEV) and battery electric (BEV) variants, measuring 5,150 mm in length with a wheelbase of 3,030 mm. All Seagull 08 models are built on BYD’s native ultra-fast charging platform. The PHEV variant delivers a CLTC-rated all-electric range of 400 km and a combined range of 1,660 km, while the BEV version offers a maximum CLTC range of 905 km. The car features BYD’s proprietary Cloud Ride-A closed-loop dual-chamber air suspension, rear-wheel steering system (with a maximum steering angle of ±7° and a turning radius of 4.95 meters), and a road-preview system. For advanced driver assistance, every model comes standard with the "Eyes of God" B laser radar system, supporting urban and highway navigation-assisted driving. Additionally, BYD provides comprehensive safety coverage for urban navigation assistance and intelligent parking scenarios for one year. The cabin includes front-row zero-gravity seats, ventilated/heated/massaging seats throughout, smart power-closing doors on all four sides, and a 20-speaker Devialet premium audio system. Core components—including the second-generation Blade Battery, Cloud Ride-A air suspension, and DiLink intelligent cockpit—are all independently developed and manufactured by BYD. The introduction of the Seagull 08 fills a gap in the Ocean Network’s lineup in the B+-segment and above premium sedan market. To date, the Ocean Network has surpassed cumulative sales of 7.2 million units, offering models spanning from A00 to B+ segments. According to market data, six of the top ten best-selling C-segment sedans in China during the first half of 2026 were new energy vehicles from domestic brands, with the remaining four being models from BBA (BMW, Benz, Audi) and GAC Honda. The mid-to-large-size new energy sedan segment is currently highly competitive, with key rivals including the Xiaomi SU7 and traditional luxury-brand models.
