BMW plans to launch an all-new, next-generation X7 large SUV in 2027, alongside its first all-electric variant—the iX7. Recent spy photos reveal that the iX7 will follow the technical blueprint of the iX5, featuring exterior styling closely resembling the mid-cycle refresh of the i7. The front fascia incorporates BMW’s signature dual-kidney grille and split headlight clusters, with slim daytime running lights positioned at the top and main headlights relocated lower on the front bumper. Traditional door handles will be replaced by BMW Winglets—electric flush-mounted handles that automatically open the doors with a light touch. The vehicle features large-diameter wheels, a slightly sloping roofline, and extended rear doors to enhance access for third-row passengers. At the rear, the design echoes that of the iX5, highlighted by unique taillights and a more rounded rear bumper. Inside, the iX7 will be equipped with BMW’s panoramic iDrive system, featuring a continuous display strip integrated along the base of the windshield. It includes a standard 17.9-inch infotainment screen and offers an optional 14.6-inch passenger entertainment display supporting gaming, streaming media, music playback, and in-cabin video calls via an interior camera. While specific powertrain details for the iX7 have not yet been disclosed, they are expected to mirror those of the iX5 xDrive60: a 141 kWh battery pack, dual-motor all-wheel drive, peak output of 425 kW (577 hp), maximum torque of 805 N·m, 0–100 km/h acceleration in 4.6 seconds, a top speed of 210 km/h, and an EPA-estimated range of approximately 700 km. The vehicle will support up to 460 kW DC fast charging, enabling a 10% to 80% charge in as little as 23 minutes. Beyond the base model, BMW is also expected to introduce a higher-performance electric variant of the iX7. Meanwhile, the combustion-engine X7 will continue to offer a range of internal combustion powertrains.
