NIO Unveils Shortlist for NIO Day 2026 Host Cities: Harbin, Wuhan, Xiamen

On July 4, NIO announced that eight cities submitted bids to host NIO Day 2026: Changchun, Chongqing, Harbin, Jinan, Nanjing, Qingdao, Wuhan, and Xiamen. Following evaluation, Harbin, Wuhan, and Xiamen have advanced to the next stage. NIO has not yet disclosed the specific date or agenda for NIO Day 2026. Based on past practice, the event is expected to feature the launch of significant new products. Since its inception in 2017, NIO Day has been held annually for nine consecutive years. Key product launches at each event include: - **2017 (Beijing):** Debut of the first model ES8, NIO Pilot advanced driver-assistance system, NOMI in-car AI assistant, and NIO Power battery-as-a-service ecosystem. - **2018 (Shanghai):** Launch of the ES6 and six-seat variant of the ES8. - **2019 (Shenzhen):** Introduction of the updated ES8 and the coupe SUV EC6. - **2020 (Chengdu):** Unveiling of the flagship sedan ET7, second-generation battery swap station, 150kWh solid-state battery, and full-stack autonomous driving technology NAD. - **2021 (Suzhou):** Launch of the mid-size sedan ET5 and 7kW/11kW DC home chargers. - **2022 (Hefei):** Debut of the EC7, all-new ES8, and third-generation battery swap station. - **2023 (Xi’an):** Introduction of the executive flagship sedan ET9, 640kW all-liquid-cooled ultra-fast charger, fourth-generation battery swap station, and in-house developed autonomous driving chip “Shenji NX9031.” - **2024 (Guangzhou):** Official market launch of the ET9 and unveiling of the new brand “Firefly.” - **2025 (Hangzhou):** Market debut of the all-new ES8, with the event held in autumn for the first time.
