Tesla Expands Robotaxi Service to Miami, Enters Florida for First Time

Tesla announced on July 5, 2025, that its Robotaxi autonomous ride-hailing service has expanded to a small area in western Miami, Florida. This marks the service’s debut in Florida and represents the third U.S. state covered, following Texas and California. The Miami rollout follows Tesla’s earlier strategy in Dallas and Houston, featuring an initially limited service area and vehicles operating without in-cabin safety drivers. Tesla first launched commercial Robotaxi operations in Austin, Texas, on June 22, 2025, and subsequently expanded to the San Francisco Bay Area, Dallas, and Houston. By January 2026, its Robotaxi fleet had grown to 200 vehicles, with concurrent progress in driverless testing. Tesla’s autonomous driving approach relies solely on cameras and neural networks, eschewing lidar and high-definition maps.
