Bentley Motors has announced that its first all-electric SUV will be named the Torcal, becoming the brand’s fourth model line alongside the Continental GT, Flying Spur, and Bentayga. The name is derived from El Torcal de Antequera, a natural reserve in Andalusia, Spain, renowned for its limestone formations shaped over millions of years. The word “Torcal” also shares etymological roots with “torque,” reflecting the vehicle’s performance character. The new SUV is set to make its official debut on September 23. Positioned below the current Bentayga in the lineup, it measures nearly five meters in length and was spotted testing at the Nürburgring Nordschleife in May 2024. Bentley aims to attract new customers through its electric models while continuing to offer internal combustion engine and plug-in hybrid vehicles into the 2030s. Additionally, a second-generation Bentayga, equipped with a plug-in hybrid system, will launch in the coming years.
