Recently, Hefei launched its sixth Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) reverse power discharge event, with 642 new energy vehicles participating and delivering a total of 11,312 kilowatt-hours (kWh) of electricity—equivalent to the annual electricity consumption of five average households. The event took place during designated time slots on June 29 and 30, utilizing 66 public V2G charging piles across four public stations and six residential V2G piles. Participating vehicle owners received a special subsidy of up to RMB 2 per kWh, with an annual municipal subsidy cap of RMB 50,000 per vehicle. Revenue from discharging at public stations was credited within 24 hours after each discharge session. After deducting charging costs, net earnings per discharge session could reach nearly RMB 100. To date, Hefei has established 16 V2G demonstration projects with 176 bidirectional charging and discharging piles, achieving a total reverse discharge capacity of 56.4 megawatts (MW). The city’s new energy vehicle fleet exceeds 577,000 units, with a combined battery capacity surpassing 25 million kWh. As one of China’s first pilot cities for large-scale V2G applications, Hefei plans to mobilize over 8,000 new energy vehicles for V2G participation during this summer’s peak electricity demand period, with cumulative discharge volume expected to exceed 50,000 kWh. Previously, during the period when provincial and municipal subsidies in Anhui were combined, the “Wanmei Discharge” campaign achieved a revenue rate of RMB 4 per kWh.
