Rumor Debunked: No Mandate Requiring 70% Domestic ADAS Chips in New Cars from July 1

Recently, an online article claimed that "Starting July 1, the 'Technical Specification for Automotive-Grade AI Chips for New Energy Vehicles,' jointly issued by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) and the State Administration for Market Regulation, has come into mandatory effect, requiring that all domestically produced and sold new energy passenger vehicles achieve a domestic localization rate of no less than 70% for key technologies across the entire intelligent driving chip supply chain. Vehicles failing to meet this requirement will be prohibited from applying for approval, production, and vehicle registration." After verification, MIIT confirmed that it has never issued the aforementioned document nor established any regulations regarding the domestic localization rate of new energy vehicle chip technologies.
