Geely Holding Group and Gree Electric recently officially signed a strategic cooperation framework agreement. The collaboration spans seven key areas: joint R&D of in-vehicle smart hardware, intelligent manufacturing supply chains, logistics and warehousing, industrial internet, user ecosystems, smart transportation, and home appliances. Previously, in 2018, Gree provided central air conditioning solutions for Geely’s factories, with cooperation limited to infrastructure support. This new agreement marks a significant step into core segments of the automotive industry chain. In March this year, Dong Mingzhu, Chairwoman of Gree Electric, became an owner of the Zeekr 009 Glory and assumed the role of “Zeekr Quality Experience Officer.” Since then, senior executives from both companies have maintained ongoing dialogue, accelerating the implementation of their strategic partnership. Geely is currently at a critical juncture in its transition toward electrification and intelligence, demanding higher standards for in-vehicle comfort systems, thermal management technologies, and manufacturing efficiency. Gree’s expertise in residential HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning) can be effectively adapted to automotive applications. Moreover, Gree possesses self-developed capabilities in automotive-grade silicon carbide chips, enabling it to support Geely’s upgrade needs in core components and manufacturing. For Gree, the automotive sector represents a vital avenue for cultivating its second growth curve, while Geely’s vehicle manufacturing system and supply chain ecosystem offer an ideal testing ground for Gree’s technological innovations. During the signing ceremony, Dong Mingzhu toured Geely’s Global All-Domain Safety Center and observed crash tests. Safety—a shared priority for both companies—serves as the foundational value underpinning their collaboration. Both enterprises prioritize user interests and emphasize quality assurance. This partnership also reflects the emerging trend of seamless integration across “people, vehicles, and homes,” aiming to achieve deep synergy not only at the hardware level but also throughout the industrial chain—going far beyond conventional device interconnectivity. Following the signing ceremony, both parties jointly awarded outstanding Geely employees and presented them with Gree products, highlighting their shared philosophy on talent development. The collaboration is widely regarded as a benchmark case of cross-industry integration and cluster-based synergy within China’s manufacturing sector, with both sides expected to deeply interpenetrate and benchmark each other in core technologies and manufacturing systems.
