Yijing Auto GM Zeng Qinglin Stresses Chassis as Key to Intelligent Driving Safety and Experience

Recently, Zeng Qinglin, General Manager of the YiJing automotive brand, shared his insights on the critical importance of vehicle chassis in the era of intelligent driving. He emphasized that as intelligent driving becomes more widespread, the role of the chassis grows increasingly vital. He outlined three key reasons: First, the chassis serves as the execution terminal for intelligent driving systems. Steering, braking, and suspension systems carry out vehicle control commands; if the chassis response lags, even the most advanced intelligent driving algorithms cannot function effectively. Second, the chassis directly impacts both the intelligent driving experience and ride comfort. Poorly tuned chassis can lead to noticeable body roll, pitch, and sway, significantly increasing the risk of motion sickness. Third, a high-end chassis provides the essential hardware foundation for continuous iteration of intelligent driving capabilities, enabling ongoing performance optimization through over-the-air (OTA) updates. Zeng stressed that the chassis acts as the ultimate safety fallback for intelligent driving. Advanced intelligent driving systems demand higher responsiveness and redundancy from the chassis, and without robust chassis performance, the safety ceiling of intelligent driving will be severely constrained. He believes that throughout the evolution of autonomous driving, the chassis has not been diminished in importance—in fact, it has become even more crucial. Achieving synergistic co-evolution of software and hardware is essential to building long-term core competitiveness for China’s new energy vehicles. According to the company’s roadmap, YiJing’s first model, the YiJing X9, rolled off the trial production line at Chengdu Economic & Technological Development Zone on June 8, 2024. The vehicle is scheduled for market launch and initial deliveries in the third quarter of 2024, with nationwide deliveries commencing in September. The X9 measures 5,301 mm in length, 2,015 mm in width, and 1,820 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,120 mm. All variants come standard with Huawei’s Qiankun In-Car Light “trinity”: HUAWEI XPIXEL million-pixel intelligent projection headlights, HUAWEI XSCENE in-car laser projector, and HUAWEI XHUD augmented reality head-up display. Additionally, the YiJing brand plans to launch five new products over the next three years.
