Peugeot has officially unveiled two new flagship all-electric concept cars, the "Inception" and the "Lumina," both developed on Dongfeng Motor's platform architecture and equipped with Dongfeng's powertrain systems. These models were co-developed by Peugeot and its joint venture partner Dongfeng. One is a station wagon resembling the Peugeot 508, while the other is an SUV larger than any Peugeot model currently sold in Europe. Peugeot CEO Alain Favey stated that although the vehicles are based on Dongfeng’s platform, Peugeot will handle all aspects of their interior and exterior design to ensure they embody “true Peugeot” characteristics. He emphasized that this collaboration goes far beyond simple badge engineering—it represents deep, integrated co-development. Favey also clarified that the production versions of these two models are intended for the Chinese market and select export markets but will not be launched in Europe. He explained that their dimensions have been specifically tailored to meet Chinese market demands and, since they are not destined for European consumers, there is no need to align them with European customer expectations. Looking ahead, Peugeot’s strategic focus in Europe will center on seven new electric models built on Stellantis Group’s architectures, with plans to complete this rollout by 2030 to strengthen its market share.
