Sichuan Accelerates New Energy Heavy-Duty Truck Adoption, with 27.5% of New Registrations in First Five Months

In the first five months of this year, Sichuan Province added 11,055 new heavy-duty trucks to its road transport fleet, of which 3,045 were new-energy vehicles, accounting for 27.5%—a significant increase compared to the same period last year. As of the end of April, the province had built 14,690 centralized charging and battery-swap stations and installed 1.0351 million charging piles. According to Sichuan’s "Action Plan for Doubling Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure Capacity," by the end of 2027, the province aims to have 2.05 million charging facilities in place, while enhancing the deployment of DC fast-charging and high-power charging infrastructure along national and provincial trunk roads, transportation hubs, and major freight corridors—with some areas developing dedicated high-power charging facilities for heavy-duty trucks. Currently, Sichuan has approximately 440,000 operational trucks, with electric trucks making up about 7.8% of the total. As zero-carbon freight corridors advance and an integrated system combining vehicle renewal, energy replenishment infrastructure, and smart-enabling technologies accelerates development, the adoption of new-energy heavy-duty trucks in the logistics sector continues to expand steadily.
