On August 11, a technical exchange event for supply chain companies focusing on automotive interior and exterior components, intelligent chassis, electronic and electrical systems, smart cockpits, and intelligent driving was held at SAIC Motor Corporation Limited. Organized by a third-party platform, the event brought together suppliers from relevant fields to connect with SAIC’s procurement and R&D departments, aiming to deepen collaboration between OEMs and component suppliers. SAIC Motor completed its overall listing in 2011 and has consistently ranked among China's top automakers by vehicle sales volume. In 2025, SAIC achieved wholesale sales of 4.507 million vehicles and retail sales of 4.67 million units. Of these, sales of its self-owned brands reached 2.928 million units, up 21.6% year-on-year, accounting for 65% of total sales. New energy vehicle (NEV) sales totaled 1.643 million units, an increase of over 33% year-on-year, while overseas sales reached 1.071 million units, up 3.1% year-on-year. SAIC’s business spans six major segments: complete vehicles, components, mobility and services, automotive finance, international operations, and innovative technologies, forming an integrated industrial structure centered on complete vehicles with synergistic development across multiple sectors. Its complete vehicle business covers the R&D, production, and sales of both passenger and commercial vehicles, with a portfolio of brands including Roewe, MG, IM Motors, Shangjie, Maxus, and Hongyan. Its product lineup encompasses internal combustion engine vehicles, hybrids, battery electric vehicles, and a full range of commercial vehicles. To accelerate its transformation into a “user-oriented high-tech company,” SAIC established the Innovation Research and Development General Institute and built “Seven Technology Foundations,” proposing a technical architecture designed to support the creation of intelligent, life-like mobility products. This architecture integrates original, foundational, and common technologies to enable rapid development of differentiated products tailored to specific market segments across all its brands. SAIC has already made significant progress in areas such as energy closed-loop systems, solid-state batteries, high-efficiency powertrains, intelligent chassis, full-stack software architecture, and next-generation electronic architectures, with its technology foundations now entering version 2.0. In response to the industry’s “New Four Transformations”—electrification, intelligent connectivity, shared mobility, and digitalization—SAIC continues to advance an integrated system that aligns R&D, procurement, and supply chain operations, strengthening collaboration between OEMs and component suppliers to enhance core technological capabilities. The recent technical exchange event featured product exhibitions and matchmaking sessions, helping suppliers precisely align with SAIC’s sourcing requirements and fostering long-term strategic partnerships.
