Changan Automobile’s project titled “Key Technologies and Standards for High-Safety, High-Efficiency, and Long-Life Power Battery Systems for New Energy Vehicles” has been awarded the Second Prize of the 2025 National Science and Technology Progress Award. The company’s self-developed “Golden Bell Shield” battery, developed under this project, has already been deployed in multiple mass-produced models from Deepal Auto. Based on a highly stable cell design, the Golden Bell Shield battery achieves over 5,000 charge-discharge cycles and supports a 600,000-kilometer service life with imperceptible degradation—outperforming national standards in durability. In terms of safety, it employs a three-dimensional protection strategy combining intrinsic safety, passive protection, and active early warning. According to company data, no thermal runaway incidents caused by the battery have occurred to date. The battery has also passed numerous extreme tests conducted by third-party agencies, including fire exposure twice as long as required by national standards, underbody impact, dual-needle penetration, and ultra-long cycle testing—covering extreme conditions such as mechanical abuse, thermal abuse, and aging. In integration technology, the Golden Bell Shield battery adopts both CTP (Cell-to-Pack) and CTV (Cell-to-Vehicle) architectures. The CTV version achieves a maximum integration efficiency of 86%, enabling increased battery capacity and extended range within the same pack dimensions while freeing up cabin space—adding 11.9 mm of headroom for occupants. Beyond batteries, Deepal Auto continues to iterate its electric drive systems: it launched the Yuanli Ultra-Integrated E-Drive 1.0 in 2022, upgraded to version 2.0 in 2024, and plans to unveil version 3.0 in 2026. The system delivers an average operating efficiency of 94.13% and a power density of 4.25 kW/kg. Since production began in June 2022, it has reached a cumulative output of one million units within 45 months and has been consecutively selected as one of the “World’s Top 10 Electric Drive Systems” for four years running. In May 2025, Deepal Auto’s patent “An Electric Vehicle and Its Power Battery Heating System and Heating Method” was awarded China’s Patent Gold Award. In terms of market performance, Deepal Auto achieved global sales of 33,625 vehicles in June 2026, up 12.5% year-over-year, marking the fourth consecutive month with monthly sales exceeding 30,000 units. For the first half of 2026, its global cumulative sales reached 164,156 units, an increase of 14.6% year-over-year, including 35,795 units sold overseas—a surge of 141% compared to the same period last year. Currently, all Deepal models are equipped with the Super Range-Extended System and the Golden Bell Shield battery.
