Tesla Cybercab Opens to Texas Factory Staff for On-Site Test Rides

Tesla announced that employee test rides of its Cybercab autonomous taxi will soon be available at Giga Texas. The vehicle, which lacks a steering wheel and pedals, was shown in a video autonomously driving through the factory’s vehicle parking area and opening its gull-wing doors. Tesla posted on its official account: “Cybercab employee rides at Giga Texas starting soon,” but did not clarify whether these rides would serve as actual shuttle services within the campus or be limited to short-distance demonstration runs. Currently, Tesla’s Robotaxi fleet in Austin still exclusively uses Model Y vehicles, and the Cybercab has not yet entered public road operations. Since it cannot be manually controlled by a human driver, the Cybercab would face heightened safety and technical requirements if deployed on public roads in the future.
