The BMW i3 50 xDrive First Edition made its debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed and is scheduled to begin deliveries this autumn. Buoyed by strong market response, customer reservations for the model in Europe opened in mid-June—earlier than originally planned for autumn. The First Edition is available in six exterior colors: M Le Castellet Blue, Alpine White, Black Sapphire, Space Silver, Brooklyn Grey, and Eucalyptus Green. It comes standard with the M Sport package and an illuminated BMW kidney grille. Wheel options include 19-inch or 20-inch designs. Inside, the show car features a Digital White interior theme and a BMW Individual steering wheel, with multiple interior color schemes offered. Standard equipment includes a 3D head-up display, Harman Kardon sound system, three-zone automatic climate control, heated steering wheel, privacy glass, and power-adjustable front seats. AC charging capacity has been increased to 22 kW, and a powered tailgate is also standard. Despite being a special edition, the i3 First Edition still offers numerous optional extras, such as a panoramic glass roof, rear seat heating, an electrically deployable tow bar, and a range of driver assistance and safety features. The official online configurator for this model is not yet live; customers must currently place orders through dealers. The configurator is expected to launch in autumn, coinciding with the market introduction of the standard i3. In the UK, the i3 First Edition starts at £57,905, while the standard version starts at £53,005. BMW plans to begin series production at its Munich plant in Germany in August.
