The second jointly developed model by Volkswagen and XPeng, the ID. UNYX 09, is scheduled to launch in the second half of 2024. With a body length exceeding 5 meters and a wheelbase of 3,030 mm, the vehicle features a fastback silhouette, elongated proportions, and incorporates Volkswagen’s wolf-head emblem design. The ID. UNYX 09 has already appeared in the July 2024 edition of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology’s “Announcement on Road Motor Vehicle Manufacturers and Products.” The ID. UNYX 09 will be offered in two variants: a single-motor rear-wheel-drive version and a dual-motor all-wheel-drive version. Both are equipped with lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries, with cells supplied by CATL and battery packs assembled by Volkswagen Anhui Components Co., Ltd. The dual-motor AWD variant has a curb weight of 2,307 kg and a gross vehicle weight of 2,760 kg. Its dimensions measure 5,081 mm (length) × 1,980 mm (width) × 1,509 mm (height), fitted with 255/45R21 tires and capable of a top speed of 200 km/h. The front motor delivers a rated power of 50 kW and peak power of 140 kW, while the rear motor offers a rated power of 110 kW and peak power of 230 kW. The single-motor RWD variant weighs 2,207 kg (curb) and 2,660 kg (gross), sharing identical body dimensions and wheelbase with the AWD version. It offers optional tire sizes of either 255/50R20 or 255/45R21 and also achieves a top speed of 200 km/h. The vehicle integrates Volkswagen’s “Xingyun Smart Drive” and “Yunqi Smart Cabin” technologies, including a full-scenario intelligent driving assistance system based on the VLA large AI model, an AI-powered virtual assistant, and a high-performance computing platform.
