Recently, a set of spy photos showing what appears to be the production version of BAIC Off-Road’s new mid-to-large SUV—the “Urban Hunter”—has surfaced. The test vehicle is heavily camouflaged, yet its overall design closely resembles the previously unveiled concept model. Exterior-wise, the SUV features a boxy and rugged silhouette, with a vertical-slat grille and distinctive headlight clusters at the front. The side profile retains conventional mechanical door handles, a flat roofline, and roof-mounted rails. At the rear, it adopts a side-hinged tailgate and an externally mounted spare tire, underscoring its rugged off-road character. Regarding powertrain, the test vehicle features both a fuel filler cap and a charging port on opposite sides, suggesting it will be equipped with a hybrid system—though specific technical details have not yet been disclosed. The model was previously positioned to meet users’ multi-scenario mobility needs described as “5 days in the city, 2 days for weekend getaways, and 7 days for long-distance overlanding,” balancing urban commuting with off-road adventures.
