The BYD Dolphin G DM-i has officially launched in the UK, with a starting price of £23,990. All four trim levels are priced below £30,000, and the first deliveries will begin in September. This model marks BYD’s first vehicle specifically designed and developed for the European market. It features BYD’s DM-i Super Hybrid system, combining a 1.5-liter gasoline engine with two electric motors—one driving the front wheels and the other dedicated to power generation. The Dolphin G DM-i is available in four variants: Active, Boost, Comfort, and Sport. The Active and Boost trims come equipped with a 7.42 kWh battery, offering an all-electric range of approximately 40 km (WLTP). The Comfort and Sport trims feature a larger 18.3 kWh battery, extending the pure electric range to around 105 km (WLTP). With a full tank of fuel and a fully charged battery, all variants achieve a combined maximum range of up to 1,040 km. The Active variant delivers a peak output of 129 kW, while the Boost, Comfort, and Sport variants each produce 156 kW. All versions accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.3 seconds and have a top speed of 180 km/h. For charging, both battery options can be fully charged in under three hours using a standard 7 kW home wallbox. The larger battery also supports DC fast charging at up to 39 kW, enabling a 10% to 80% charge in just 26 minutes. Measuring 4,160 mm long, 1,825 mm wide, and 1,575 mm tall, with a wheelbase of 2,610 mm, the Dolphin G DM-i comfortably seats five adults. The boot offers 425 liters of cargo space, plus an additional 45-liter underfloor storage compartment. Folding the rear seats in a 40:60 split expands total cargo capacity to 1,225 liters. In terms of equipment, the Active trim comes standard with a 10.1-inch central touchscreen, an 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, automatic climate control, fabric seats, and multiple driver-assistance features. The Boost trim upgrades to a 12.8-inch central display and adds tinted windows, a vegan leather-wrapped steering wheel, heated front seats, an eight-speaker audio system, ambient lighting, wireless phone charging, and rear USB ports. The Comfort trim features 18-inch alloy wheels, mixed fabric-and-vegan-leather seats, built-in Google Maps, Google Assistant, and a 360-degree camera system. The top-tier Sport trim includes unique exterior styling, dark-finish 18-inch wheels, suede-effect seats, and black or orange-blue interior accents, paired exclusively with special body colors.
