California Launches “My First EV” Program with $3,500 Rebate

California Governor Gavin Newsom signed Senate Bill 168, officially launching the "My First EV" rebate program. The initiative provides first-time electric vehicle buyers with an instant $3,500 discount at the point of sale. The program is funded by $135.5 million in state appropriations and an equal amount in matching contributions from participating automakers, totaling approximately $270 million.
