On July 14, Lei Jun, Chairman and CEO of Xiaomi, revealed that Xiaomi's robot has completed a four-month "internship" at the company's automobile factory. At the self-tapping nut installation workstation, where dual-side operations are required, the robot’s success rate improved from 90.2% to 98%—just 1 percentage point below the human operator’s pass rate—and is now nearing the threshold for full deployment. Additionally, the robot has expanded into new application scenarios in the final assembly workshop, achieving a 90% success rate in both center console side cover installation and bin-folding tasks, marking the first time it has stably handled flexible components over extended periods. Lei also shared a video showing the robot continuously performing sequencing tasks for center console side covers, demonstrating its capability to manage large, irregular, and flexible workpieces. Currently, the robot is being tested in additional factory roles and is exploring new applications in areas such as biomimetic dexterous hands and multi-robot collaborative operations.
