Volkswagen Group recently announced a new round of restructuring, planning to cut up to 100,000 jobs and close four factories in Germany. According to reports, by 2030, the number of vehicle models offered by the group could be reduced to half of its current lineup. As part of this adjustment, Volkswagen intends to discontinue 10 models, including several electric vehicles. Specific models slated for discontinuation include the Volkswagen Jetta sedan and Taos SUV; Porsche’s combustion-engine 718 Boxster and Cayman, as well as the all-electric Taycan, will no longer receive new iterations; Audi plans to end production of the Q5 Sportback and the all-electric Q6 e-tron Sportback; and Volkswagen’s all-electric SUV coupe, the ID.5, may also be canceled. Additionally, the Škoda Fabia and Cupra Raval are reportedly on the potential discontinuation list. To date, Volkswagen Group has not issued an official response to these reports.
