Beijing traffic police have summoned 35 freight transport companies whose newly registered trucks were found to have committed a high number of license plate-related violations in the first half of 2024, and will handle them jointly with relevant industry regulators in accordance with the law. Among them, Beijing Bin Qi Jia Ye Transportation Co., Ltd. had 49 such violations recorded under its fleet, Beijing De Xin Yao Rui Logistics Co., Ltd. had 45, and Beijing Da Ai Landscaping Co., Ltd. had 40. "License plate-related" violations primarily include four types: failure to properly install license plates (e.g., using flip-plate devices), intentional obstruction, deliberate defacement, and failure to display plates as required. These violations exhibit three key characteristics: First, there is clear intent—some vehicles are equipped with flip-plate mechanisms, magnetic covers, or sliding panels, which drivers use to obscure their license plates before entering monitored road sections to evade enforcement. Second, enterprise management has significant gaps—particularly among construction waste, building materials, and logistics transport companies—where daily safety oversight is often perfunctory. These companies frequently fail to implement vehicle inspection protocols and driver education programs, and in some cases even instruct or tacitly permit such illegal acts. Third, these violations carry high compounded risks—license plate offenses are often accompanied by other serious traffic violations such as overloading, running prohibited zones, speeding, and improper lane usage, substantially increasing the likelihood of traffic accidents. Traffic authorities will continue carrying out targeted campaigns to improve freight vehicle safety, routinely conducting summonses, issuing public notifications, and placing enterprises under special supervision. They will also strengthen joint enforcement efforts with departments including transportation, emergency management, and urban management to urge companies to fulfill their primary responsibility for traffic safety, enhance public awareness and warnings, eliminate drivers’侥幸psychology (sense of侥幸—i.e., belief they can get away with violations), and promote lawful business operations and compliant driving behavior.
