On July 14, Sun Hao, Director of the Marketing Department at Dongfeng Nissan Automobile Sales Co., Ltd., posted on social media stating that he is a staunch supporter of Xiaomi and expressed keen interest in Xiaomi’s upcoming first vehicle under its Pengcheng automotive brand. He noted that it is no small feat for Xiaomi—a company with no prior automotive manufacturing background—to rally its team, foster an atmosphere of passion, and focus on creating hit products that particularly resonate with young consumers. Sun mentioned that recent images of the Xiaomi Pengcheng N90 reminded him of the Mercedes-Benz Viano MarcoPolo—a niche model he worked on during his tenure at BAIC Mercedes-Benz back in 2005. That vehicle was a Class-B pop-top camper van designed to serve both daily commuting and leisure travel needs. On July 10, four plug-in extended-range hybrid models from Xiaomi’s Pengcheng series completed official product declarations. These include: - Xiaomi Pengcheng N90 Max Camping Edition (classified as a plug-in extended-range hybrid cultural lifestyle service vehicle), - Xiaomi Pengcheng N90 Max, - Xiaomi Pengcheng N70, and - Xiaomi Pengcheng N70 Max (the latter three categorized as plug-in extended-range hybrid multi-purpose passenger vehicles). All four models feature a gasoline-electric hybrid powertrain, with a top speed of 190 km/h. They are equipped with the M15DRE engine (1,499 cc displacement, maximum net power output of 112 kW) produced by Harbin Dongan Automotive Engine Co., Ltd. Among them, the Xiaomi Pengcheng N90 Max Camping Edition is a specialized passenger vehicle fitted with a pop-up roof, rooftop bed board, side cabinets, and side awning mounts. Optional features include an in-cabin projection system and a detachable table. Designed for scenarios such as rest breaks, outdoor team-building activities, and mobile training sessions, the vehicle’s pop-up roof function may only be used when the vehicle is parked off public roads; the roof must remain closed while driving.
