In Q2 2026, domestic SUVs (excluding imports) recorded 12,723 valid quality-related complaints, with sales totaling approximately 2.471 million units across 355 models. The average complaint-to-sales ratio stood at 51.5 per 10,000 units—significantly higher than in Q1—indicating a notable decline in overall quality performance. Complaints surged 63.6% quarter-over-quarter, reaching a near one-year high, while sales growth lagged far behind the rise in complaints, driving the complaint-to-sales ratio higher for the second consecutive quarter. Among the 355 models with available sales data, 89 exceeded the quarterly average sales volume of 6,962 units and were classified as best-selling models. Of these, 68 posted a complaint-to-sales ratio better than the industry average of 51.5 per 10,000 units, reflecting relatively strong quality performance. By vehicle segment, all SUV categories except subcompact SUVs saw substantial increases in complaints. Full-size SUV complaints jumped 170.4% quarter-over-quarter, midsize SUVs rose 80.5%, while subcompact SUV complaints declined by 10.8%. In terms of sales, both subcompact and full-size SUVs posted quarter-over-quarter growth exceeding 50%. The sharp spike in complaints significantly elevated the complaint-to-sales ratio for midsize SUVs—well above the industry average—dragging down overall performance. Meanwhile, the ratio for subcompact SUVs decreased, making it the best-performing segment in terms of quality. From a brand perspective, Chinese domestic brands increased their share of listed models by 6.8 percentage points, Japanese brands saw a slight 0.2-point increase, while German brands’ share dropped by 5.7 percentage points. Among specific models, Leapmotor A10 ranked first, Changan X5 PLUS climbed to second place, Volvo XC70 Plug-in Hybrid secured third, BYD Sealion 05 DM-i came in fourth, and iCAR V27 entered the top ten in its debut appearance. BYD had nine models on the list, while Geely and Chery each contributed seven. Some models saw deteriorating performance: Hongqi HS6 PHEV dropped off the list entirely after ranking sixth in Q1, and GAC Trumpchi GS3 fell from ninth to 28th. Premium brands collectively underperformed compared to Q1, with one fewer model making the list. BMW Brilliance had three models上榜 but all declined in ranking, Beijing Benz had only one model included, and FAW Audi had no models on the list.
