In Q2 2026, domestic SUVs recorded 12,723 valid quality-related complaints, against sales of approximately 2.471 million units covering 355 models. The average quality complaint-to-sales ratio for SUVs in the quarter stood at 51.5 per 10,000 units sold—marking a notable increase from Q1 and indicating a weakening in overall quality performance. Among the 355 models with available sales data, 89 exceeded the average sales volume and were classified as best-selling models; of these, 68 posted better-than-average complaint-to-sales ratios, reflecting relatively stronger quality performance. The Leapmotor A10 topped the ranking list. BYD had nine models on the list, including one in the top ten. Geely and Chery each contributed seven models to the ranking. Traditional premium brands saw a slight decline compared to Q1, with one fewer model making the list overall. Brilliance BMW had three models上榜 (on the list), though all dropped in ranking; Beijing Benz had only one model included, while FAW Audi had none. The Volvo XC70 plug-in hybrid climbed to third place, becoming the highest-ranked premium-brand model. SUV complaints surged 63.6% quarter-over-quarter in Q2, reaching a one-year high. Although sales rebounded somewhat during the same period, the growth rate lagged far behind the surge in complaints, driving the quality complaint-to-sales ratio higher for the second consecutive quarter and hitting a new one-year peak—signaling mounting quality pressure across the SUV segment.
