On July 15, Toyota Auto Body Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Toyota Motor Corporation, filed a recall application with Japan's Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism for 11,467 units of its single-seat compact battery electric vehicle, the "COMS." The affected vehicles were produced between July 2012 and April 2025. The recall is due to a defect in the parking brake (handbrake), with 32 related malfunction reports received to date. Notably, the company had previously issued a recall in January this year for an issue involving the parking brake cable, and some vehicles included in that recall overlap with those covered in the current action.
