In the first half of 2026, data from the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM) showed that the top ten domestic automotive enterprise groups sold a combined total of 12.649 million vehicles, accounting for 84.2% of national sales. SAIC Motor, BYD Company, and Geely Holding ranked first, second, and third, respectively. Among them, Geely Holding, Chery Holdings, GAC Group, and Great Wall Motor reported year-over-year sales growth. Meanwhile, according to global new energy vehicle (NEV) registration data for January–May 2026 released by CleanTechnica, the Tesla Model Y led globally with 408,200 units sold, followed by the Geely Galaxy E5/EX2 with 183,000 units, and the Tesla Model 3 in third place with 164,000 units. Of the top ten best-selling NEV models worldwide during this period, eight were Chinese brands, with only two spots held by Tesla models.
