On July 20, the U.S. government announced it would impose an additional 50% ad valorem tariff on certain Canadian products, citing Canada's alleged discriminatory measures against the United States in trade involving automobiles and auto parts. The new tariffs are set to take effect at 12:01 a.m. Eastern Time on August 19 and will be levied in addition to existing applicable tariffs, taxes, and other charges.
