BYD recently unveiled the Denza Z at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, offering four variants: Hardtop, Convertible, Track Edition, and a Special Edition. Among them, the highest-performance Z Special Edition is scheduled to challenge the Nürburgring Nordschleife lap record this autumn. International media have already published spy photos of prototype vehicles undergoing testing on and around the Nürburgring circuit. Based on the Denza Z Track Edition, this prototype features an even more aggressive aerodynamic design, including multiple front winglets, a larger front splitter, redesigned bodywork, and a massive rear spoiler. The rear diffuser occupies nearly one-third of the car’s rear end, while the wheels and tires have been swapped out, and certain body sections expose raw carbon fiber. The Denza Z Track Edition already comes equipped with a carbon-fiber front splitter, underbody vortex generators, multiple vents, and offers an optional carbon-fiber rear spoiler. Its aerodynamic package generates 1,060 kg of downforce at 350 km/h, and the rear seats can be removed to install a roll cage. The standard Denza Z is powered by a 76 kWh Blade Battery and a tri-motor system, delivering a combined output of 1,180 kW and peak torque of 1,240 N·m, accelerating from 0–100 km/h in 2.25 seconds with a top speed of 300 km/h. The Track Edition trims the 0–100 km/h time to 1.96 seconds and raises the top speed to 350 km/h. The Z Special Edition pushes performance even further, boasting over 1,471 kW of combined power, a track-grade thermal management system, and an anticipated 0–100 km/h time under 1.7 seconds. Denza stated that the Z Special Edition will continue development and testing before its official Nürburgring lap record attempt.
