Hyundai Launches Global Unified V2X Energy Service "All Day Energy"

Hyundai Motor Group has announced the global rollout of an electric vehicle (EV) energy service called “All Day Energy,” integrating its existing V2X (Vehicle-to-Everything) initiatives across multiple countries. Built on bidirectional charging technology, the service enables EVs to charge during off-peak electricity rate periods and discharge power back to homes, commercial buildings, other vehicles, or the public grid during peak demand hours, allowing owners to profit from electricity price differentials. Pilot programs are already underway in South Korea, the United States, and the Netherlands. On Jeju Island in South Korea, 40 residents are participating in the country’s first V2G (Vehicle-to-Grid) pilot using Hyundai IONIQ 9 and Kia EV9 models equipped with V2G capabilities. In the Netherlands, Hyundai is collaborating with energy company Vattenfall to test a business model involving 80 households using Kia EV9 and Hyundai IONIQ 9 vehicles paired with bidirectional chargers for grid-balancing services. In the U.S., Hyundai is advancing V2H (Vehicle-to-Home) services through its “Hyundai Home” initiative, integrating EVs with residential solar panels, energy storage systems, and chargers to enable household energy self-sufficiency. Models such as the Hyundai IONIQ 5 and IONIQ 9 already support V2L (Vehicle-to-Load) external power supply functionality, and when paired with compatible bidirectional chargers, they can further enable V2H and V2G applications. Hyundai plans to unify these offerings under the “All Day Energy” brand, gradually expanding to additional markets while establishing consistent service standards and user experiences.
