Ferrari Unveils First All-Electric Supercar, Luce: 0-100 km/h in 2.5s, 530+ km Range, Design Sparks Debate

Ferrari recently unveiled its first all-electric supercar, the Luce. Featuring a four-door, five-seat layout and designed by the team led by former Apple chief designer Jony Ive, the Luce emphasizes an ultra-sleek, minimalist aesthetic with exceptionally low aerodynamic drag. Its design centers around a “glass cockpit,” seamlessly integrating the roof and side windows into a single visual surface, while the lower half of the body showcases sculpted, muscular lines. The front and rear light clusters adopt a hidden design—completely invisible when off and producing a floating light effect when illuminated. The car rides on custom wheels measuring 23 inches at the front and 24 inches at the rear. Under the hood, the Luce is powered by a quad-motor all-wheel-drive system derived from the F80 supercar, with the front-axle motors spinning up to 30,000 rpm and the rear-axle motors reaching 25,500 rpm. This setup delivers a combined output of 772 kW (1,050 horsepower) and peak wheel torque of 11,500 Nm. Performance figures include a 0–100 km/h sprint in just 2.5 seconds, 0–200 km/h in 6.8 seconds, and a top speed exceeding 310 km/h. Built on an 800V high-voltage architecture, the Luce features a proprietary 122 kWh structural battery pack supporting 350 kW fast charging, offering over 530 km of range under WLTP standards. Despite its performance capabilities, the vehicle’s curb weight is kept to 2.2 metric tons. On July 22, prominent Chinese automotive blogger Han Lu publicly expressed dissatisfaction with the Luce’s exterior design, calling it unattractive—despite his otherwise amicable relationship with Ferrari.
