In June 2026, Xiaomi Auto rose to third place among CATL’s (Contemporary Amperex Technology Co. Limited) battery pack installation customers, with a procurement share of 6.8%, tying with Li Auto and surpassing NIO’s 6.2%. That month, CATL’s total installed capacity reached 36,603 MWh, capturing 46.3% of China’s power battery market. Geely Auto ranked first with an 8.2% procurement share, followed by Changan Automobile at 8.0%. Since its vehicle launch, Xiaomi Auto has seen continuous growth in deliveries, rapidly expanding its battery procurement scale and securing a position among CATL’s core customers. Its product portfolio continues to broaden, with multiple models achieving stable deliveries, driving increased demand for power batteries. If new models continue to ramp up production volumes, Xiaomi is poised to further climb CATL’s customer rankings. The current market remains highly competitive. Geely and Changan benefit from substantial scale advantages, while Li Auto and NIO maintain their procurement volumes through new model launches. Meanwhile, many automakers are diversifying their supply chains, sourcing batteries from multiple suppliers beyond CATL. Xiaomi Auto has also established multiple battery supply channels, though CATL remains its most critical battery partner. From an industry-wide perspective, demand for power batteries rebounded in June 2026, with leading companies reporting steady growth in installed capacity. CATL and FinDreams Battery (BYD’s battery unit) form the first tier, together holding 64.3% of the market share. CALB (China Aviation Lithium Battery), Gotion High-Tech, and EVE Energy constitute the second tier, while all other players hold less than 4% each. CATL boasts a broad customer base—including Geely, Changan, Xiaomi, Li Auto, and NIO—resulting in a diversified client structure and strong risk resilience. In contrast, FinDreams Battery primarily supplies BYD with limited external customers; CALB mainly serves commercial vehicles and XPeng; and LG Energy Solution exclusively supplies Tesla China. Changes in new energy vehicle (NEV) sales directly shape upstream battery procurement patterns, making CATL’s downstream customer rankings a key indicator of automakers’ market performance. With the upcoming peak sales season in the second half of the year and a wave of new vehicle launches, battery procurement volumes are expected to rise further, likely prompting additional shifts in customer rankings.
