Backed by the Japanese government, Noetra focuses on Physical AI and foundational robotics model development. In its first year alone, it secured over JPY 380 billion in government funding and attracted participation from 44 major corporations, including SoftBank, Honda, and Sony. The company plans to procure 27,500 NVIDIA Rubin AI chips and aims to complete construction of its AI infrastructure by June 2028, when it will become operational. This infrastructure is designed to provide Japanese enterprises with a secure and reliable foundational model platform, enabling them to manage their own data and develop AI applications independently. Meanwhile, the Japanese government is advancing key technological initiatives, including supporting Rapidus—a leading-edge chip foundry—in producing world-class semiconductor chips. It has also set a target to deploy 10 million AI-capable robots across multiple sectors by 2040 to accelerate industrial intelligent transformation.
