At the 2026 China Auto Forum, Wang Qian, Deputy General Manager of Dongfeng Nissan Passenger Vehicle Sales Co., Ltd., stated that while there is considerable pessimism in the market about joint-venture brands, "it's still too early to write them off." He noted that joint-venture brands are no longer locked in a zero-sum game but are instead jointly facing industry-wide challenges, with their products rapidly advancing localized iterations. However, he added, consumer perceptions of joint-venture brands remain somewhat rigid. Wang emphasized that the shared goal for these brands is to shed outdated labels, stressing there is no shortcut to breaking through—only through collaboration. "Only by working together can China’s joint-venture new energy vehicles succeed," he said. Additionally, it was previously reported that the 100,000th vehicle of Dongfeng Nissan’s N-series new energy models rolled off the production line in June 2026, achieving this milestone in just 14 months—a record speed for a central state-owned enterprise’s joint-venture brand to reach 100,000 new energy vehicle sales.
