Cadillac Global Vice President Christian Aquilina confirmed that the brand will launch an all-new, internal combustion engine (ICE) version of the XT6. Previously, Cadillac had shifted its focus toward fully electric vehicles, gradually scaling back its ICE lineup. However, market feedback indicates that consumer adoption of EVs has fallen short of expectations. Data shows that in the U.S. market, the XT5 sold 11,107 units in the first half of 2026, while its all-electric counterpart, the LYRIQ, sold only 7,578 units during the same period. The discontinued XT6 sold 9,637 units in the first half of 2025, whereas the all-electric SUV VISTIQ managed just 3,903 deliveries in the first six months of 2026—making it unlikely to surpass even half of the XT6’s 2025 sales figure for the full year. Aquilina stated that although Cadillac remains committed to electrification, it will adjust its product strategy based on actual demand in the luxury vehicle market and reintroduce ICE models with strong consumer interest. The next-generation XT6 will join the upcoming XT5 and CT5 to form a refreshed product portfolio. The two SUVs are expected to share significant design and technological elements, drawing inspiration from the five-seat XT5 launched in China in 2024. The new XT5 is slated for a 2025 launch, while the XT6 is anticipated to arrive in either 2028 or 2029.
