On June 30, a traffic accident occurred on the Shanghai Qingpu section of the G50 Shanghai–Chongqing Expressway. A Tesla lost control, crashed into a guardrail, and caught fire. The female driver inside was injured and trapped in the vehicle, facing imminent risk of explosion and combustion. Wei Jianguo, a passing driver of a Li Auto i6, stopped his car and rushed into the burning wreckage to pull the injured woman to safety before leaving the scene. Video footage from his dashcam later circulated online, drawing widespread attention. Li Xiang, CEO of Li Auto, subsequently posted on social media seeking to identify and thank the rescuer. After nearly a month of efforts to locate him, on July 23, Li Xiang presented Wei Jianguo with a personalized benefits card bearing his handwritten signature, granting him a special reward: within one year of the launch of the Li Auto i9, Wei can exchange any vehicle registered under his name for a brand-new Li Auto i9 at no additional cost. In an accompanying letter, Li Xiang stated that this gesture was solely intended to express his admiration for Wei’s heroic act. Earlier this year, in February, Yao Dongquan—a Zhejiang driver who jumped off a bridge to rescue someone—had also received a similar benefit from Li Auto, entitling him to a free vehicle upgrade across Li Auto’s entire lineup within three years. The Li Auto i9 is the brand’s premium all-electric flagship SUV, with an expected price of approximately RMB 500,000. The value of the upgrade benefit granted in this case amounts to several hundred thousand yuan.
